It's a question I'm often asked.

People see that Lion and I are both stay at home parents and they wonder how we make money. The short answer is... I work in Construction Management (as I have for the last 16 years) and Lion owns/operates his own gardening company.
Now the long answer.
After the birth of Chapo, I decided that I no longer wanted to work full time. I had worked out a deal with my employer at the time which allowed me to spend half days working from home. But that didn't last very long (this was way before the scamdemic and working from home was still taboo), and when I was asked to commute and work full time in the office, I quit. I took a summer off and then found a part-time job that gave me the space to live life the way I wanted to. Fast forward a few years, I work from home (or wherever I have an internet connection) part time, so I'm able to be home with my family.
Lion manages his company remotely also. So he is just as much of a stay at home parent as I am. And while we recognize and appreciate the privilege that we have in being able to earn money without being tied to a specific location, we are also often overextended. Because...well because these kids have no chill. They want all of us, all the time...naturally. And being a present parent/homeschool teacher/helpful partner/business owner/attentive employee all at the same time, every day of the week is not for the faint of heart.
BUT, we make it work. It's important to us that our kids stay out of the conventional school/day care system. And truth be told, going into a jobsite/office every day is the last thing that either of us ever wants to do. Therefore, we juggle, hustle and live responsibly and within our means so that we can continue to do life the way we want to.
