So here are some of the items I'm using to make my life more organized and less hectic along the trip:

1) Spacious, compact, folding toiletry bag:

2) Little kid sunglasses that don't scratch, break, or fall off.

Finding the perfect pair took much trial and error. Save yourself the hassle and get these:

3) A tiny little bluetooth speaker that sounds so much better than you'd expect. This one is Lyss-approved, so that says a lot:

4) Travel Blanket. I plan to use this kinda like a picnic blanket. Our flight from Boston to Portugal doesn't take off until very late, and I know that my Littles will need some space to lay and chill. Using this as a barrier between them and the airport floor makes me feel a little less icky about them being on the airport floor:

5) Okay. I hate airplane neck pillows. They are never really quite comfortable enough for me. But this time I was determined to find one that would help me get at least a little sleep. I tried a bunch, and this one was the best option. I like that it inflates and deflates quickly, so that it doesn't take up a lot of room in your bag.

6) This water bottle for little kids is super handy. It's small enough even for Amore to hold and use with ease. Yet, it holds enough water for her and Chapo to share. The spout flips up at the press of a button (that you can lock), and it's easy to clean. We've been using it for a few weeks now with no leaks. Oh, and the removable silicone bottom will stop it from sliding off the seat-back tray on the plane.

7) Kid headphones. These are cheap, nicely sized and do the job. Both Chapo and Amore are comfortable using them:

8) And this is the MP3 player that I got for each of the Littles. I like it because it's no-frills, doesn't have a screen that attracts their attention, and is small and light.

9) Travel Potty, an absolute necessity if you have a little kid who poops. Have you ever had to deal with a kid who needed to poop on the plane? If not, lucky you. If so, then trust me...get this. I just flip down the changing station in the airplane bathroom, set this on top, let my baby do her business, and I avoid the airplane toilet at all costs. I use this when not traveling also (like when Amore needs to go at the playground). Do yourself and the earth a favor, and use compostable bags with this.

Bonus: It folds down small enough to fit in a backpack/messenger bag.

10) This is the box that I used to make the busy boxes for Chapo and Amore:

That's all for now.

Check my last post (https://www.seebirdsnest.com/post/the-secret-sauce-traveling-as-a-family-of-5 ) for links to all this good stuff:

Life As We Know It... FUCKING SUCKS

That's a harsh reality that I fully accepted last night. It may sound dark or daunting, but it is the absolute truth. And as they...
